Balochistan suspends internet services in Quetta over security concerns

QUETTA: The Balochistan Home Department has ordered the suspension of 3G and 4G internet services across Quetta district, citing security concerns.

According to an official notification, the suspension will take effect at midnight on Friday, October 31, and remain in place for 24 hours. During this period, all mobile internet and data services in Quetta will stay unavailable.

The department said the decision was taken to maintain law and order and to counter potential security threats.

Officials added that the measure is temporary and part of precautionary steps aimed at ensuring public safety amid heightened security alerts.

Earlier this week, Quetta International Airport welcomed the first flight of Iran Air, marking a new phase in regional connectivity — though the temporary suspension of internet services may affect communication in the provincial capital.

Yesterday, the ISPR, in a statement, said that security forces killed at least 18 militants linked to an India-backed Fitna al-Hindustan during two counterterrorism operations in Balochistan.

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said troops conducted intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in the Chiltan mountain range of Quetta district and in Buleda, Kech district.

“During the operation in the Chiltan range, security forces engaged the terrorists’ hideout and, after an intense exchange of fire, killed 14 Indian-sponsored militants,” the ISPR said.
