KARACHI: Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany for Balochistan and President of the Quetta Chamber of Small Industry Mir Murad Baloch met with Eng Sami Abdullah Al Khanjari, Consul General of the Sultanate of Oman, at the Omani Consulate in Karachi to discuss enhanced cooperation between Oman and Balochistan.
During the meeting, they discussed several important matters of mutual interest, including regional connectivity, trade expansion, and cultural preservation. Key highlights of the discussion include:
1. Launch of International Flights from Quetta: A proposal was presented to initiate Salam Air flights from Quetta to Muscat and extend connections to other international destinations. This would significantly improve global access for Balochistan’s residents and business community.
2. Business Delegation to Oman: Plans were discussed to organize a delegation of Balochistan-based businessmen to visit Oman for exploring investment and trade opportunities, encouraging joint ventures and mutual growth.
3. Facilitation of Business Visas: The Consul General assured support for business visa facilitation for Balochistani entrepreneurs, aiming to ease travel and enable smoother access to Omani markets.
4. Preservation of Heritage in Gwadar: The meeting also emphasized cooperation in preserving and restoring heritage buildings in Gwadar, an area of historic importance and future economic potential.
5. Community Delegation to Balochistan: An Omani community delegation will be invited to visit Balochistan to explore business opportunities and foster people-to-people and cultural ties.
6. Recognition of Germany’s Support: Eng. Sami Abdullah Al Khanjari acknowledged and appreciated the ongoing developmental contributions made by Germany in Balochistan, particularly in areas of economic upliftment and heritage conservation.
This engagement marks a significant step toward building stronger diplomatic, economic, and cultural bridges between Oman and Balochistan, while also opening avenues for broader international outreach.
