Balochistan Government Promotes Merit, Awards Scooters to Distinguished Students

QUETTA: In a ceremony held on October 10th in Quetta, the provincial government distributed electric scooters to the top-performing students of the FA/FSC 2024 examinations. The event was part of the Prime Minister’s Accelerated Vehicle Electrification (PAVE) Program, aimed at rewarding academic excellence.

The distribution was led by Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar and Provincial Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs, Mina Majid Baloch. The event was also attended by Chairman of the Balochistan Board, Muhammad Ishaq, and Deputy Director Shamsullah Khan Kakar.

During his address, Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar praised the students for their outstanding achievements despite facing difficult circumstances. He highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to improve the education sector, which include reviving inactive schools, ensuring teacher attendance, and combating cheating in exams. He also mentioned the Balochistan Education Support Program (BESP), which has enabled 17,000 students to pursue their studies in other provinces, and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to a merit-based system.

Minister Mina Majid Baloch described the electric scooters as a token of appreciation from the Prime Minister for the students’ hard work. She emphasized that education is the fundamental foundation for progress and called upon parents to continue guiding and supporting their children. She also noted the recent recruitment of 16,000 teachers as a significant step towards strengthening the education system in Balochistan.

The ceremony concluded with the formal handover of the electric scooters to the high-achieving students.
