QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said that a quiet but effective revolution has taken place in the province’s health sector, with its benefits now reaching the public.
In a post on X, he said providing basic healthcare in remote and underdeveloped areas is a top government priority.
The provincial government has completed the recruitment of around 3,000 doctors on a contract basis. This has allowed 164 Basic Health Units (BHUs) across Balochistan to become fully operational.
“These measures are now benefiting areas that previously had little to no healthcare services,” Bugti said.
He added that residents in cold, mountainous regions and hot, arid areas now have access to basic medical care close to home, marking a major improvement.
“These initiatives are not just numbers—they represent tangible improvements in people’s lives,” the chief minister said.
Bugti emphasized that reforms in the health department will continue. The government plans to expand healthcare coverage further to ensure every citizen has access to quality, timely treatment.
