QUETTA: A week-long anti-polio vaccination campaign begins across Balochistan today (Monday), with health officials aiming to immunize at least 2.66 million children under the age of five.
Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) Coordinator Inam ul Haq informed local media persons that as part of the campaign, children will also be administered Vitamin A drops to enhance their immunity against other childhood illnesses. The initiative is being launched amid persistent environmental detection of the poliovirus in various parts of the province.
Inam ul Haq emphasized that the importance of parental cooperation, adding that the virus is still present in the environment. If children are not given polio drops, they remain at risk of permanent disability.
The EOC has completed all necessary preparations for the campaign. Over 11,659 teams will participate in the drive, including 9,129 mobile teams, 958 fixed-site teams, and 586 transit point teams. These teams will be deployed across cities, towns, and remote areas to ensure every child is reached.
Security will be provided to all polio teams during the campaign to ensure smooth operations.

Inam ul Haq urged parents to ensure that their children under five receive both the oral polio vaccine and routine immunization shots, which protect against measles, pneumonia, and other life-threatening diseases.
