QUETTA: Balochistan has formed its first “Technical Advisory Board” (TAG) for gender-based violence (GBV) service providers focusing on women with disabilities.
The board will oversee the National Action Plan on Human Rights with a focus on disability inclusion.
It will work with government departments, hospitals, and other organisations to improve access and remove barriers in GBV services.
Government officials, civil society members, development partners, and disability rights groups attended the launch.
The Social Welfare Department Secretary said the board will ensure people with disabilities can access justice and protection without obstacles.
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) will support a disability accessibility assessment.
This assessment will review GBV services in health, law enforcement, legal aid, shelters, crisis centres, and helplines.
The goal is to find gaps and suggest solutions.
STEP Director of Programmes Abia Akram said women and girls with disabilities face a high risk of violence.
She said the initiative will make sure protection services meet their needs.
