Balochistan itself should decide about budget and Levis: Oppostion leader

QUETTA: opposition leader and member of the Balochistan Assembly Mir Younas Aziz Zehri  has raised serious concerns, stating that no one truly knows who is running Balochistan.

He said whenever someone gives instructions to the Chief Secretary, implementation begins immediately—without proper discussion or consultation. Referring to a letter by a former FATA MNA suggesting the abolition of the Levies force, he criticized authorities for hastily acting on it.

He emphasized that decisions about Balochistan must be made in the provincial assembly, not elsewhere.

“Today you’re dissolving the Levies; tomorrow you’ll say the police failed and bring in the FC, and then perhaps the army.

This cycle has been tried before and yielded poor results. Please, stop repeating such practices,” he urged.

He clarified that they are not asking for money or favors, only for fair governance. With June approaching, he stressed that the budget should be the result of a consultative process. “Balochistan doesn’t belong to one person; it belongs to all of us. Its resources should be used equally to reduce backwardness and improve public welfare,” he said.

He concluded by expressing doubt that the government even has control over the budget, suggesting it might be prepared elsewhere, possibly even in FATA. “We will not support corruption or unconstitutional actions, but we will back any step taken in the public’s interest,” he added.
