QUETTA: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Balochistan, Muhammad Tahir, has directed all range officers to utilize available resources and modern technology to improve law and order and ensure public safety across the province.
Presiding over a comprehensive video link meeting with senior police officials from all ranges at the Central Police Office, IGP Tahir emphasized the need for immediate and effective responses to any emergency situation. The meeting reviewed the prevailing security landscape and existing arrangements in detail, with officers providing thorough briefings.
“The police force will have to take effective measures to prevent crimes using modern technology,” stated IGP Tahir, underscoring the importance of innovation in crime prevention. He directed officers to further tighten security protocols in their respective jurisdictions and safeguard citizens by “every possible way.”
The police chief stressed that maintaining law and order was a paramount duty, requiring all officers to “fully discharge their responsibilities.” The directives aim to bolster proactive policing and strengthen public confidence in the security apparatus.
The high-level meeting was attended by key officials including Additional IGPs Javed Ali Mehar and Agha Muhammad Yousuf, several Deputy Inspectors General overseeing headquarters, Quetta, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), Special Branch, and Crimes Branch, as well as AIG Operations Naveed Alam.
The conference signifies a coordinated push by the Balochistan police leadership to enhance operational efficiency and address security challenges through integrated command and modern strategies.
Meanwhile a grim wave of road accidents across three districts of Balochistan on Thursday claimed nine lives and left six others injured, casting a shadow of grief over the province.
The most devastating incident occurred in the Sarki Jangle area of Loralai. According to police, a speeding car collided with a motorcycle carrying a prayer leader, Ehsanullah, and his wife.
The couple died instantly. The impact caused the car to overturn, seriously injuring its six occupants. Police shifted the victims to Loralai district hospital, where three more—two women and a man—succumbed to their injuries.
