QUETTA: In a landmark move for governance reform, the Balochistan government has initiated its first-ever online recruitment process, heralding a new era of transparency and efficiency. The pilot project, launched within the Finance Department, successfully filled 111 vacant posts using a digital testing system that bypassed traditional “office action” and recommendations.
The revolutionary process ensured that candidates were selected solely on merit through an online examination. Remarkably, appointment letters were issued to successful candidates within just one hour of test completion, setting an unprecedented standard for speed in public sector hiring. This swift and paperless procedure is being hailed as a critical step toward eradicating corruption, nepotism, and job-selling from the province’s recruitment system.
Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, addressing the occasion, emphasized the government’s commitment to its promises of reform. He declared that the Finance Department’s pilot project is the first phase of a broader initiative, with plans to implement the same transparent, modern system across all provincial departments in the future.
The government made it clear that it will not tolerate any malpractice in recruitment under any circumstances. This digital intervention is designed to completely close illegal channels and restore public trust in government institutions by ensuring that appointments are based purely on capability and merit.
This historic shift away from a decades-old culture of influence and recommendation marks a significant stride toward institutional modernization in Balochistan, with hopes that it will establish a new, fair norm for public service employment.
Meanwhile Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq held a meeting with the Chief Minister and Governor of Balochistan to discuss the province’s development projects and security situation.
According to a private TV report, the meeting included Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, Governor Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.
During the discussions, detailed talks took place regarding ongoing development initiatives in Balochistan.
