QUETTA: In a significant move to bolster sports in the province, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti announced on Wednesday that the government would sponsor international boxer Abida Batool’s participation in an upcoming championship in Turkey.
The announcement came during a meeting with the accomplished athlete, held at the CM Secretariat. The session was also attended by Provincial Adviser for Sports and Youth Affairs, Meena Majeed Baloch, and Secretary Sports, Dura Baloch.
CM Bugti lauded Batool for her exceptional performances in national and international arenas, which have brought honor to both Pakistan and Balochistan. He described her as a source of pride for the entire nation and a testament to the potential residing in the province’s youth.
“The government is firmly committed to encouraging our talented athletes and fostering a vibrant sports culture across Balochistan,” Chief Minister Bugti stated. He emphasized that athletes like Abida Batool are not just champions in their fields but also crucial role models who inspire a generation.
He further highlighted the importance of female participation in sports, noting that their success on the world stage projects a progressive and positive image of Balochistan.
In a direct instruction to the Sports Department, the Chief Minister called for enhanced measures to improve training, facilities, and opportunities specifically for female athletes, ensuring they have the resources to excel.
