QUETTA: The 21st meeting of Balochistan’s provincial cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, approved several major social and economic initiatives. The cabinet expressed gratitude for Prime Minister Pakistan’s support in launching communications and education projects in the province.

Balochistan Electric Bike Scheme

The cabinet approved an electric bike scheme aimed at students, working women, and government employees. Eligible participants will receive bikes at a 30 percent subsidy. Other citizens can purchase bikes through easy installment plans.

Implementation of the scheme will be supported through bank financing to ensure maximum participation.

Health Insurance for Government Employees

Officials noted that the province spends 6–7 billion rupees annually on healthcare for roughly 250,000 government employees. The cabinet approved the introduction of a comprehensive health insurance scheme for all provincial employees.

The meeting also cleared advance medical payments and audits of the Public Endowment Fund.

To support youth employment and economic stability, the cabinet approved the extension of the Enterprise Development Program to Gwadar, Kech, and Awaran districts.

All Appointments to Follow Merit

The cabinet agreed that all government appointments in the province will be strictly based on merit to ensure good governance.

Chief Minister’s Address

Speaking at the meeting, Chief Minister Bugti thanked the federal government for supporting communications and education projects in Balochistan.

He said the electric bike scheme will benefit all segments of society through affordable installments.

“Resources collected from the common citizen’s taxes are a public trust,” he said. “It is unjust for poor Baloch citizens to face hardship while a large share of resources benefits a privileged few.”

Bugti emphasized that good governance depends on meritocracy. He reaffirmed the cabinet’s firm commitment to promoting merit and ensuring its implementation across the province.
