QUETTA: The Balochistan government has imposed Section 144 across the province, introducing a series of restrictions aimed at maintaining public safety and preventing potential security threats.
The decision includes a province-wide ban on motorcycle pillion riding with women and children exempted as well as a prohibition on covering the face with veils or masks in a manner that conceals identity.
The government has also barred the use of unregistered motorcycles, the public display of weapons, and the movement or storage of explosive materials.
Furthermore, the gatherings of more than five people, including rallies, sit-ins and processions, have been restricted throughout the province.
In addition, the notification further explains that violators will face legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which pertains to disobedience of orders issued by a public servant. The penalties may include fines, detention, or both.
The provincial Home Department focused on that no leniency would be shown toward individuals or groups found violating the directives. Moreover, to ensure effective enforcement, strict instructions have been issued to the police, Levies, Frontier Corps and all Deputy Commissioners.
In this regard, law-enforcement officials have been directed to intensify patrols, monitor public spaces closely and take timely action where necessary.
In this sense, government representatives stated that the restrictions are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security arrangements ahead of several significant events and to curb activities that may disturb public peace.
The provincial administration has urged citizens to remain calm, follow official guidelines and report any suspicious activity to the nearest law-enforcement agency.
