QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, the Metropolitan Corporation Quetta (MCQ) has launched a large-scale cleanliness operation across the city in connection with Eid-ul-Azha.
The operation aims to maintain hygiene and a healthy environment during the festive days and has so far been a significant success.
In this sense, as per the verified sources from the Metropolitan Corporation, a massive campaign to remove sacrificial waste was carried out on the first day of Eid.
More than 1,100 personnel, including drivers, helpers, and private sector sanitation workers participated in the operation. The city was divided into key zones, and 13 special camps were established for waste collection under the front-end collection model.

Furthermore, these camps were operational, only 10% of the waste was brought to them by citizens. The remaining 90% of offal and garbage was collected directly from homes, streets, and neighborhoods by MCQ vehicles and staff, ensuring no area was left unattended.
In such a scenario, approximately 1,600 tons of waste were transferred to landfill sites. The final tonnage report is currently being compiled and is expected to reflect the scale and effectiveness of the effort.
The sanitation campaign will continue until the fourth day of Eid, with full force deployed to keep the city clean.
