Quetta Division shines with 37 golds to win Balochistan Games

QUETTA: Quetta Division secured the overall title at the second Balochistan Games, while Sibi Division finished second and Loralai Division took third place.

The closing ceremony was held at Ayub Sports Complex under the supervision of the provincial Sports Department. Adviser to the Chief Minister on Sports, Meena Majeed, graced the event as the chief guest.

In her address, she praised the participation of athletes from across the province, particularly women athletes. “The participation of female players is a source of pride for us,” she said. She added that the Balochistan Games have helped uncover new talent that will strengthen the province’s representation in the upcoming National Games.

Meena Majeed noted that the provincial government’s vision is to revive sports fields and engage youth in healthy activities. “We have succeeded to a great extent, and various competitions will continue throughout the year,” she said, reaffirming the Sports Department’s commitment to fully supporting athletes.

The multi-sport event featured athletics, bodybuilding, karate, volleyball, boxing, badminton, cricket, football, table tennis, and other disciplines.

According to official results:

  • Quetta Division dominated athletics, bagging 37 gold, 11 silver, and 6 bronze medals, and securing 224 points overall.
  • Sibi Division claimed second place with 3 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medal, earning 22 points.
  • Loralai Division finished third with 2 gold, 12 silver, and 2 bronze medals, scoring 48 points.

At the closing ceremony, trophies and prizes were distributed among the winning athletes. Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Dara Baloch, Director General Sports Yasir Bazai, Assistant Director Asif Lango, Deputy Director Asif Farooqi, Kamran Khurshid, and other senior officials were present.
