Large quantity of yogurt and milk disposed of in Quetta

Quetta – The Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) has intensified its special milk-testing campaign to curb adulteration in milk and yogurt across the provincial capital.

Inspection teams carried out checks on milk shops and milk-carrying vehicles along Jan Muhammad Road, Mekangi Road, Gawalmandi Chowk, Raisani Road, Sariab, Faqir Muhammad Road, and Pashtunabad.

Following on-the-spot mobile laboratory testing, authorities confirmed large-scale adulteration with water and milk powder.

As a result, heavy fines were imposed on four milk suppliers and twelve shop owners.

During the operation, 1,620 litres of substandard milk, a significant quantity of dry milk powder, and 350 kilograms of yogurt prepared from powdered milk were destroyed.

A total of 13,893 litres of milk from 31 shops and 28 milk-transport vehicles was examined.

According to officials, the drive is being carried out under the instructions of Food Secretary Manzar Javed Ali to eliminate milk and yogurt adulteration and ensure safe dairy products for the public.

It is worth mentioning that many such operations have been launched in the recent times leading to many arrests and wasting of large quantity of sub-standard material in Quetta and other areas.

The Balochistan Food Authority wants to ensure that the consumers are provided with the food items of the good quality keepping in view the health measures.

The authority has so far revealed zero tolerance on the figure trying to carry out the supply of low and poor quality food items.
