QUETTA: The Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) intensified its special inspection campaign in Quetta, launching a major crackdown on the sale of substandard, unhygienic, and unsafe meat across the city.
BFA inspection teams carried out operations in several key areas, including Gowalmandi Chowk, Khuari Road, and Sirki Road, where they inspected a total of 81 beef, mutton, and poultry shops. During the inspections, authorities imposed fines on 15 shopkeepers for poor hygiene, selling low-quality meat, and violating food safety regulations. Several other vendors received warning notices and were directed to improve their standards immediately.
A BFA spokesperson said the authority remains fully committed to ensuring that citizens have access to safe and high-quality food. The spokesperson added that the ongoing campaign aims not only to eliminate substandard meat from the market but also to educate shopkeepers about maintaining cleanliness and adhering to food safety laws.
