Balochistan, Fed govt launch Rs. 24bn Danish Schools project

Balochistan launches Rs16 billion Danish schools drive to transform education

QUETTA : In a significant move to enhance educational infrastructure, the Balochistan government, in collaboration with the federal government, has initiated a major project to establish eight new Danish schools across the province. The schools are slated to become operational by March 2027, according to a senior provincial education official.

Balochistan Education Secretary, Asfandyar Kakar, announced that the project will see Danish schools constructed in eight districts: Dera Bugti, Sibi, Qila Saifullah, Zhob, Musa Khel, Sohbatpur, Washik, and Chagai. The initiative represents a substantial joint investment, with an estimated total cost of Rs. 24 billion. The funding will be shared equally, with both the federal and Balochistan governments contributing Rs. 12 billion each.

Secretary Kakar stated that the construction phase is expected to be completed within one year. The schools will operate under the administrative umbrella of the Danish Schools Authority, a body known for managing a network of quality educational institutions in other parts of the country, notably in Punjab.

The establishment of Danish schools in Balochistan is seen as a pivotal step towards providing access to standardized, quality education in some of the province’s more remote and underserved districts. The project aims to create centres of educational excellence, offering improved facilities and curriculum. This collaboration between the federal and provincial governments underscores a shared commitment to addressing educational disparities and investing in the future of Balochistan’s youth, with the goal of fostering long-term socio-economic development in the region.
