Balochistan faces worst-ever situation: National Party

QUETTA: The two-day session of the National Party’s Provincial Working Committee was held under the chairmanship of provincial president Aslam Baloch.

In his opening speech, Aslam Baloch said that Balochistan is facing one of the worst crises in Pakistan’s 76-year history.

He said unconstitutional violence, terrorism, political alienation, unemployment, and lawlessness are at their peak.

Hundreds of innocent people are losing their lives, he added.

“Balochistan has become a killing field for people from all walks of life,” he stated.

He emphasized the need for political maturity and seriousness to overcome this complex crisis.

He said the National Party is committed to promoting non-violence and democratic politics in the province.

“Our clear policy and consistent stance reflect our commitment to Balochistan,” he noted.

The party’s central secretary general, Mir Kabir Muhammad Shahi, also addressed the session.

He stressed the need for a broad-based alliance to protect Balochistan’s coasts and natural resources.

“Unfortunately, we have not succeeded in forming such an alliance yet,” he said.

He added that the National Party has never put political gains above national interests.

“Working Committee is the true representative forum of the working class,” he asserted.

He said the only way to pull Balochistan out of crisis is to strengthen and activate the party.

Rahmat Saleh Baloch, the party’s deputy parliamentary leader in the Balochistan Assembly, also spoke at the event.

He said Balochistan is their motherland and defending every inch of it is a national and political duty.

“We have faced false accusations and repression for standing up to protect our resources,” he added.
