Balochistan extends section 144 till August 31

ISLAMABAD: The Balochistan government has extended Section 144 for 15 days, from August 16 to August 31. Officials say the step will help maintain peace and stability. Earlier, the ban was in force from August 1 to 15.

Under Section 144, gatherings of more than five people are banned. Double riding on motorcycles is also prohibited. Riders cannot cover their faces while driving. Authorities believe these rules will reduce unrest and crime. Security forces will monitor public movement more closely.

The government has also banned public transport on highways from 5 PM to 5 AM. Any company violating this order will lose its route permit. Officials say the restriction will curb illegal activity at night and lower security risks.

A high-level meeting chaired by Provincial Transport Secretary Muhammad Hayat Kakr approved these steps. The participants reviewed security threats and agreed on strict measures.

Authorities are monitoring compliance and will act against violators. They urge the public to cooperate with security forces. The government says these actions aim to restore calm in Balochistan.
