A session of the Balochistan Assembly, which began 30 minutes late, was chaired by Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai. During the meeting, lawmakers discussed key public and political issues and passed several resolutions.
The main focus was a joint resolution on climate change presented by MPA Zamarak Khan Achakzai. The resolution highlighted the severe damage caused to Balochistan’s economy by recent monsoon rains and floods. It called on the federal government to provide aid to flood victims and ensure that this assistance is delivered transparently to affected families through the Benazir Income Support Program.
Achakzai warned that without immediate action, Balochistan could face even larger-scale disasters in the future.
Provincial Minister Zahoor Buledi joined the discussion, stating that “enemy countries are using water as a weapon.” He also admitted that a lack of planning is making natural disasters even more destructive.
The resolution was passed unanimously by all members of the assembly.
