Balochistan CM Football Gold Cup kicks off in Quetta with 67 teams

QUETTA: The 4th All Pakistan Chief Minister Balochistan Football Gold Cup began with a vibrant opening ceremony at Ayub Sports Complex. Sports Advisor Meena Majeed officially inaugurated the event at the football ground.

Provincial Education Minister Raheela Durrani, Secretary Sports and Culture Dara Baloch, DG Sports Yasir Bazai, Deputy Director Asif Farooqi, Kamran Khurshid, and Assistant Director Asif Lango also attended.

Meena Majeed said Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti wants to engage youth in positive activities. She added that the tournament aims to project a positive image of Balochistan through sports.

Secretary Dara Baloch said the people of Balochistan deeply love football. He pointed to the packed stadium as proof of that passion. He emphasized that Balochistan’s people support peace and reject terrorism. He also highlighted the province’s tradition of hospitality.

This year, 67 teams from across Pakistan are participating. Over 170 teams played in qualifying rounds before the main event.

The tournament runs from July 15 to July 31. The final match will be played on July 31.

The winner will get Rs. 2.5 million. The runner-up will receive Rs. 1.5 million, while the third-place team will earn Rs. 500,000.

In the opening match, Baloch FC Nushki faced Afghan FC Chaman. A large crowd cheered enthusiastically for both teams.

This tournament is more than just a sporting event. It symbolizes hope and a brighter future for Balochistan’s youth.
