Balochistan CM announces major development projects

QUETTA: Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, while addressing the Balochistan Assembly, announced several development projects across the province.

He said that the Safe City Project will be launched in ten cities, and the current Project Director is being removed due to poor performance. A fertilizer factory will be set up using the gas produced in the province.

He further stated that clean drinking water plants will be installed in every union council of Quetta, and 1,200 new schools will be built in the city.

An industrial estate is also planned for Chaghi. The government will spend Rs. 2 billion on promoting culture in the province.

The chief minister added that the People’s Train Service and the People’s Air Ambulance Service will be launched within a month. Additionally, 162 new health units are being established across Balochistan.

Over the past three years, several major development projects have been launched in Balochistan across infrastructure, health, education, and energy sectors.

In infrastructure, major road projects such as the dualization of the Quetta-Karachi highway, Gwadar East Bay Expressway, and other national highways were initiated under CPEC.

The New Gwadar International Airport was completed, and a 300 MW coal power plant was developed to support the region’s energy needs.

Gwadar also saw the construction of a large hospital and progress on a new shipyard.

In health and education, the government established dozens of new health units and hospitals across remote districts.

More than 1,000 new schools were planned, and major funding was allocated to improve educational facilities.

Clean drinking water plants and dams were approved in various districts including Panjgur and Awaran.

The Reko Diq copper-gold project was revived and received major international investment.

Solar energy projects, agriculture tube-well solarization, and public-private partnership programs also contributed to the region’s development. These initiatives aim to improve connectivity, services, and economic growth in Balochistan.
