Balochistan Bans Teachers’ Strikes for Six Months

Balochistan Bans Teachers’ Strikes

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has declared education services essential and imposed a six-month ban on strikes by teachers and staff in government schools across the province, officials said on Tuesday.

Under the decision, all forms of strikes by teachers and education employees in public schools are now illegal. The School Education Department said the move aims to ensure the uninterrupted continuation of academic activities.

The government enforced the ban under the Balochistan Special Education Services Act 2019, which prohibits strikes and lockouts in the education sector.

A notification said authorities would take legal action against anyone involved in strikes or other unlawful activities at educational institutions.

The notification added that legal provisions exist to penalize violations of the ban. The order took effect immediately.
