QUETTA: The Balochistan government has imposed a ban on the movement of public transport vehicles at night across the province due to the worsening law and order situation.
Under the decision, public transport will no longer be allowed to operate on provincial highways from 5:00 pm to 5:00 am. Companies violating the ban will have their route permits revoked.
The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Provincial Transport Secretary Muhammad Hayat Kakar, which was also attended by representatives of transporters’ associations. It was decided in the meeting that, in compliance with the Home Department’s directives, the night travel ban would be enforced strictly.

Muhammad Hayat Kakar stated that all deputy commissioners in the province have been instructed to take measures to prevent the operation of public transport at night. Transporters have also been directed to install trackers in their vehicles, deploy security guards, and comply with the government’s anti-smuggling policies.
