Balochistan Assembly voices concern over rising poppy cultivation

QUETTA: Lawmakers from both the government and opposition in the Balochistan assembly expressed deep concern over the alarming spread of poppy cultivation in different parts of Balochistan, on Thursday.

According to details MPA Zabid Reki raised the issue in the Balochistan Assembly session. MPA Reki warned that the ban on opium cultivation in Afghanistan has pushed growers to shift their activities into Balochistan’s vulnerable regions.

MPA in his address said that this is a dangerous development for the future of the province, adding that these growers are not just planting a crop, they’re planting destruction for our coming generations.

Similarly, former Chief Minister Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch echoed these concerns, demanding immediate action.
