QUETTA: The Standing Committee on Energy of the Balochistan Assembly met today at the Balochistan Assembly Committee Room. The meeting was chaired by MPA Zabid Ali Reki.
The committee discussed the Agricultural Solarization and Electricity Theft Prevention Bill, 2025, in detail. The bill aims to gradually shift agricultural consumers from subsidized electricity to solar energy.
The proposed law seeks to enforce solarization agreements signed between the Government of Pakistan and the Government of Balochistan. It also aims to prevent illegal reconnection to the traditional grid system.
The bill includes provisions to curb electricity theft and classify such actions as punishable offenses. After incorporating the committee’s recommendations, the bill will be presented to the Provincial Assembly for approval.
