QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly on Wednesday approved the provincial Rs1.28 trillion budget for the fiscal year 2025–26 with a majority vote. No member opposed the passage of the budget during the session.
The house, during the budget session, presented a total of 94 demands for grants related to the upcoming fiscal year. Of these, 53 demands pertained to non-development expenditures, while 41 focused on development-related spending.
Opposition members tabled 11 cut motions against various budgetary demands, aiming to reduce allocations in specific areas. However, the House rejected all of the opposition’s motions during the session.
The budget was passed smoothly as the treasury benches maintained their numerical strength and ensured unified support.

Interestingly, the opposition members during debate in the Assembly contended that the budget for the next fiscal year was formulated without their consultation and lacked any mega projects in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP). However, at the time of voting, no member opposed the financial bill.
