QUETTA: The Government of Balochistan has officially announced a shift to winter office timings for all provincial administrative departments and their subordinate offices, effective from 15th October 2025 to 14th April 2026.
According to a notification issued by the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD), the new schedule will operate under a five-day working week. Office hours from Monday to Thursday will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a half-hour break for lunch and prayer between 1:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
On Fridays, offices will close earlier, operating from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. A one-hour break for Jumu’ah prayers and lunch has been scheduled from 1:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.
The notification clarified that the new timings do not apply to hospitals and educational institutions, including universities, colleges, and schools. However, the administrative offices of the Health and Education Departments will remain open on a six-day working week schedule.
The provincial government stated that the adjustment is designed to enhance administrative efficiency during the winter months, taking into account the shorter daylight hours.

In a separated development Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced a temporary, six-hour suspension of the gas supply to multiple areas of Quetta to carry out essential maintenance work.
According to a media alert issued by the company, the supply will be halted from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. The affected neighbourhoods include Sariab Road, Satellite Town, Pashtoonabad, Mission Road, Jail Road, and numerous other adjacent localities.
The SSGC management has extended an apology to its consumers for the inconvenience caused by this necessary maintenance. Residents in the listed areas have been advised to make alternative arrangements for the duration of the six-hour shutdown.
