Baloch separatism and Israeli strategy: A global proxy alliance exposed

ISLAMABAD: The presence of Israeli and “Greater Balochistan” flags at protests across Europe is not a random occurrence—it reflects a calculated partnership.

This alliance reveals that Baloch separatist elements are being used as instruments in Israel’s broader agenda to create instability in the region.

The issue is no longer about civil rights or autonomy; it’s a deliberate campaign aimed at political disruption and regional destabilization.

The Baloch cause is being exploited as a tool in an international proxy conflict.

It is worth mentioning that Tensions between Pakistan and Israel have taken a new turn following the June 12, 2025 launch of the “Balochistan Studies Project” by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), an organization linked to Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad. As part of this project, MEMRI appointed self-proclaimed Baloch activist Meer Yaar Baloch as a special advisor.

Although MEMRI presents itself as a U.S.-based non-profit media monitor, it was founded in 1998 by Yigal Carmon, a former Israeli intelligence officer who served two Israeli prime ministers as a counterterrorism advisor. The organization’s real expertise lies in pushing agendas under the guise of translating Arab and Muslim media — a strategy it is now directing against Pakistan and its Baloch population.

Meer Yaar Baloch has consistently appealed on social media for support from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Israeli officials.

His social media activity reflects more about India-Israel than genuine Baloch issues. MEMRI’s inclusion of him in its board clearly signals that the project is less about research and more about coordinated propaganda. Following its established model, MEMRI plans to selectively translate and disseminate videos, claims, and reports from groups like the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) into Pashto, Urdu, and English, portraying Pakistan as an occupying force committing genocide.

These manipulated translations will be presented to bodies like the U.S. Congress, European Parliament, and global think tanks as supposedly neutral research.

Indian media and online networks have already praised Meer Yaar’s appointment, with regional think tanks calling this move an overt proxy operation—marking the next step in RAW-Mossad collaboration.

The narrative being pushed through the project may also target Iran’s coastal provinces, promoting the idea that the Baloch region is unnaturally divided between two states. This move aligns with Israeli interests and aims to weaken Pakistan-Iran cooperation.

In essence, MEMRI’s Balochistan project represents a new front in information warfare, where Mossad appears to be engaging in a psychological campaign to challenge Pakistan’s sovereignty.

However, this disinformation effort can be countered through timely intelligence responses, effective diplomacy, and transparent communication of facts. Despite certain internal challenges, Pakistan holds the advantage of truth, legal legitimacy, and public support in resisting such propaganda offensives.
