Bajaur: Four police personnel martyred in terrorist attack, funeral prayers offered

BAJAUR: In a tragic incident on Wednesday, four policemen were martyred and two others injured in a cowardly terrorist attack on the Ababeel squad in the Bajaur district. The squad was on patrol duty to ensure public safety during the holy month of Ramadan.

According to a press release issued by the spokesperson for Bajaur Police, the patrol party of the Ababeel Squad was attacked by terrorists affiliated with Fitna-ul-Kharij near Nawe Kale shortly before Iftar. The attack resulted in the martyrdom of Constable Yarzada, Constable Dawood Khan, Constable Imran, and Constable Siraj. Two other personnel, Irshad Khan and Azizur Rehman, sustained injuries in the attack.

Following the incident, a heavy contingent of police rushed to the spot and launched a search and strike operation in the area to apprehend the attackers.

The funeral prayers for the fallen heroes were offered with full official honors at the Police Lines in Bajaur. The ceremony was attended by a large number of people, including Commandant Bajaur Scouts, District Police Officer (DPO) Bajaur Muhammad Khalid, Deputy Commissioner Bajaur, SP Investigation Bajaur, officers from police and civil departments, area elders, and representatives of civil society.

A well-dressed police contingent presented a guard of honor and saluted the martyrs as a mark of respect. Bouquets of flowers were placed on their coffins to honor their supreme sacrifice. Special prayers were offered for the security of the country, the nation, and for the elevation of the martyrs in paradise. The bodies of the martyrs were later dispatched to their native villages along with a special police squad, where they will be laid to rest with full state honors.

Meanwhile, the two injured personnel are receiving the best available medical care at the District Headquarters Hospital in Khar.

DPO Bajaur Muhammad Khalid condemned the attack in the strongest terms and reiterated the department’s resolve. He stated that the terrorists who ambushed the personnel deployed for public protection will be selectively eliminated. “The sacrifices of the martyrs will not go in vain,” the DPO affirmed, “and the elements involved in this heinous act will be brought to justice as soon

as possible.”
