Islamabad: The Federal Government has announced a staggering increase in the prices of petroleum products. The price of petrol has soared to 458 PKR per liter, while high-speed diesel has reached 520 PKR per liter. This represents a massive, one-time hike of 136 PKR per liter for petrol.
Federal Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik, stated that the government has already spent 29 billion PKR on public subsidies since March 1st. During a press conference, the Minister emphasized the need to transition toward targeted subsidies, noting that national unity is critical during this challenging time.
