LASBILA:Residents and community leaders in Winder city are sounding the alarm over numerous illegal LPG gas filling stations operating without safeguards, warning of a potential catastrophe in waiting. These unlicensed outlets, reportedly running in busy markets and residential neighborhoods, are refilling domestic cylinders openly while lacking fundamental safety infrastructure.
According to locals, most of these illicit operations function without fire extinguishers, trained personnel, or any emergency response plan. The risk is compounded by the hazardous locations of many stations, which operate adjacent to hotels and roadside furnaces, creating a tinderbox environment where a single spark could trigger a devastating explosion.
Public and social circles have expressed grave concern over the regulatory failure that allows these stations to operate unchecked. They warn that any mishap at these sites, often situated in densely populated areas, could result in severe loss of life and property. Critics note that despite repeated complaints from the community, relevant authorities have consistently failed to enforce existing safety regulations and shutter the dangerous operations.
In response to the looming threat, citizens have urgently appealed to the Deputy Commissioner of Hub and the Assistant Commissioner of Winder to intervene. They demand the immediate sealing of all illegal LPG filling stations and legal action against their operators. The public plea stresses that preventive action is not just necessary but critically urgent to avert a major tragedy before it occurs
