Pakistan Government Confirms: National Team Will Participate in T20 World Cup, But Will Not Play Against India on February 15 Islamabad: A meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi regarding Pakistan's participation in the T20 World Cup has concluded. According to the spokesperson, Pakistan's team will take part in the T20 World Cup; however, the national side will not play the match against India. The Government of Pakistan has given its approval to the PCB on this decision. It is worth recalling that a few days ago, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, while speaking to national cricketers, stated that the Bangladesh Cricket Board's position was based on principles. "We supported Bangladesh while keeping the golden principles of cricket in mind. Our players are talented. Success in any field comes through teamwork." He further emphasized that politicized cricket is not in anyone's interest, adding that the PCB would fully implement the Government of Pakistan's decision regarding the World Cup. It is pertinent to mention that the International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially announced the exclusion of Bangladesh from the T20 World Cup and their replacement by Scotland. According to the ICC statement, consultations regarding Bangladesh's security concerns continued for the past three weeks. During this period, detailed security assessments were conducted by both internal and external experts. The ICC stated that, following the review, no verifiable security threat to the Bangladesh team in India was established. As Bangladesh failed to provide a final response within the stipulated time, the decision to include an alternate team was taken in accordance with governance and qualification rules. Per the ICC, Scotland currently ranks 14th in the ICC T20I rankings, ahead of Namibia, United Arab Emirates, Nepal, United States, Canada, Oman, and Italy.
