Balochistan Formally Merges Levies Force into Police QUETTA: The Balochistan government has officially and legally merged the Levies into the Police, ending a long-standing parallel law enforcement system in the province. The division between A and B areas has also been abolished. The announcement was made by Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti in a post on social media platform X. It was stated that a long-standing administrative ambiguity regarding uniform law enforcement in Balochistan has now officially been resolved. It was said that the decision will clarify state responsibility and further strengthen public security across the province. Earlier, a notification was issued by Chaman Deputy Commissioner Habib Ahmed Bangulzai. All Levies personnel were directed to immediately report to the Superintendent of Police, Chaman. Levies stations, checkposts, and pickets in the district were ordered to be handed over to the police. Levies in-charges were instructed to transfer all responsibilities to the police without delay. The transfer of authority from Levies to police in Chaman was ordered to be completed immediately. Implementation of the Home Department’s notification has begun in Chaman. The district’s security system has been placed under police control. The handover process is being carried out through documented procedures. Under the provincial government’s decision, the Sibi and Loralai divisions have been declared fully A areas. A notification was issued by Additional Chief Secretary Home Hamza Shafqaat. Police jurisdiction has been enforced in both divisions. The Levies Force in Sibi and Loralai has been merged into the Balochistan Police. Provincial and former federal Levies personnel will be absorbed into the police with their existing ranks and benefits. Levies personnel assigned to the CPEC Wing have also been directed to merge into the police force. The Police Act 2011 will be enforced in the merged areas. Levies budgets, weapons, police stations, checkposts, and records have been ordered to be transferred to the police. All Levies infrastructure in Sibi and Loralai is to be handed over immediately. Complete responsibility for law and order in the merged districts has been assigned to the police. District police chiefs will be authorized to provide personnel for law enforcement duties. The transition process in Sibi and Loralai has been ordered to be completed within 30 days. Commissioners of both divisions have been directed to oversee and complete the transition
