Audit report reveals Rs70 Billion in irregularities in Balochistan

QUETTA: The federal audit report revealed more than Rs 70 billion financial irregularities in Balochistan during the fiscal year 2024-25. The audit report has revealed hundreds of cases of corruption, tax evasion, overpayments and irregularities in government expenditure in the Balochistan treasury.

According to the report, due to the irregularities, the provincial treasury suffered a direct loss of Rs 3.49 billion. The report revealed that 19 cases of tax and duty evasion were reported, resulting in a loss of Rs 13.1278 billion.

The report said that suspicious payments of Rs 2.76 billion were made in 28 cases, while 130 cases of irregularities in government expenditure were reported, in which a loss of more than Rs 40.75 billion was reported.

Audit report further identified that payments were made without legal requirements, non-recovery of revenue and expenditure was made against the rules in several institutions. Serious shortcomings in financial discipline and lack of transparency on the part of government institutions have clearly come to light.
