Attempted armed attack on Kachhi SSP’s convoy foiled

KACHHI: The attempted armed attack on the convoy of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kachhi. The district administration confirmed that unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire on the police convoy while it was travelling between Sunni and Bhag.

In this regard, Police officials said the SSP had been visiting the Haji Shahar police station earlier in the day to review the site of a recent attack in which armed militants targeted the facility and set fire to official records. 

After assessing the damage and holding discussions with local police staff, the SSP and his team began their return journey when the incident occurred. The two attackers riding a motorcycle approached the convoy at high speed and suddenly opened fire.

Furthermore, no injuries were reported among the SSP or accompanying police personnel, who remained secure throughout the incident. The law-enforcement agencies cordoned off the surrounding area and launched a search operation to ensure no additional suspects were present. 

Moreover, Police teams have been deployed across key entry and exit points, and security has been heightened in nearby localities. The authorities have not yet released the identities of the assailants, and investigations are underway to determine their affiliations and motives. 

In addition, a senior police official said the incident underscores the challenges faced by security personnel in maintaining stability in the region, particularly in light of recent attacks on government installations.

The provincial government has been briefed on the situation, and officials have focused on the fact of their commitment to ensuring the safety of law-enforcement officers and the public.
