Goods truck owners condemn attacks on Pakistani vehicles in Afghanistan

QUETTA: The Balochistan Goods Truck Owners Association has expressed anger over the recent incidents in Afghanistan where Pakistani vehicles were pelted with stones and drivers were violently assaulted.

While talking to media, the Balochistan Goods Truck Owners Association leaders including Haji Noor Muhammad Shahwani, Central Secretary Jafar Khan Kakar, Haji Abdul Majeed Bangulzai, Haji Attaullah Khan Kakar, Sohail Khan Kakar, Haji Abdul Qadir Achakzai, Haji Peer Muhammad Kakar, Haji Faizullah Khan Achakzai, Zahir Shah Yousafzai, Haji Amin Smalani, Malik Noor Khan Kurd, and Haji Rozi Khan Mandokhail, condemned the mistreatment of Pakistani truck drivers on Afghan soil.

Pakistani trucks displaying the national flag and illustrations of national symbols such as Minar-e-Pakistan were targeted by Afghan nationals, who considered these displays offensive. Drivers were reportedly pulled out of their vehicles, verbally abused, and subjected to physical violence. Truck windshields and bodies were damaged in the attacks.

The association urged Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, as well as the governors, chief ministers, and home secretaries of all four provinces to take urgent notice of the matter. They also called for a nationwide ban on displaying foreign flags, portraits of foreign presidents and military officials, and foreign maps on vehicles, demanding strict legal action against violators.
