At NATO summit, Trump hails Field Marshal Asim Munir as ‘Inspiring Personality’

ISLAMABAD: U.S. President Donald Trump again claimed that American intervention helped avert war between nuclear rivals Pakistan and India, while praising Pakistan’s Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir as “an inspiring personality”, on Wednesday.

US President Trump told world leaders that he met with Pakistani Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir — a truly remarkable figure, adding that he told both Pakistan and India to pursue trade, not tension. And we stopped a war before it started.

Trump said this in his address at the NATO summit, Trump’s comments referenced backdoor diplomacy and strategic conversations believed to have been held during heightened cross-border tensions between the South Asian neighbors.

Regarding Iran’s nuclear ambitions, Trump stated, “Our goal was to eliminate Iran’s nuclear capability, and we succeeded.” He further revealed that talks with Iran are scheduled for next week and hinted that an agreement might even be signed.

Turning to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Trump commended Kyiv’s resilience: “Ukraine is fighting the best fight. President Zelensky did not mention a ceasefire — they’re not backing down.”
