Only I can bring no confidence motion: Asif Zardari

Lahore: The inside story of President Asif Ali Zardari’s meeting with PPP Punjab leaders has emerged.

According to sources, during the meeting with party leaders, President Asif Ali Zardari said: “Everyone should remember this clearly, only I can bring a no-confidence motion. Don’t forget, I know how to bring a no-confidence motion and how to make it succeed.”

He stated that instead of focusing on ministries and powers, the party must engage in the politics of service.

“The interest of the PPP is Pakistan. If Pakistan exists, then we exist. As President, I supported Pakistan and stood by it. We did not take ministries because we want to strengthen the party.”

Sources say he added: “I never called for a hunger strike while I was in jail. Many people said many things to me, but I exercised patience and restraint.

Unfortunately in Punjab, grouping and shortcomings have been our weakness. We must eliminate these and strengthen the party.”

The President said that Punjab Governor Sardar Salim Haider has done a great deal of work to strengthen the party in Punjab.

“He has opened the Governor’s House to all of you and remains available to you at all times. I win from Nawabshah because of my work.

Everyone must focus on public service — only then will we become strong. Without the people, you are nothing. Keep your connection with the public alive.”

Asif Zardari further remarked: “If Bhutto had not made Pakistan a nuclear power, our condition today would have been worse than Nepal’s.

So far in Sindh, more than 4,000 canals have been lined (made pucca/bricked).

In the last fifteen years, many bridges have been constructed under public-private partnership.”
