The arch-rivals Pakistan and India are set to face off in the Asia Cup 2025 final today in Dubai. This match marks a historic first, as it will be the first time the two teams have met in the final in the tournament’s 41-year history.
Pakistan, known as the Green Shirts, enter the final with high ambition and confidence, despite having lost to India in both of their matches earlier in the 2025 tournament. The team held a final practice session on Saturday.
Captain Salman Ali Agha expressed strong determination, stating, “We came to win the Asia Cup, we will win.”
Historically, Pakistan has had the upper hand in tournament finals against India, winning three out of the five times the two teams have met in a final.

Pakistan’s National T20 captain, Salman Agha, has declared his team “ready” for the Asia Cup final after an exciting 11-run victory over Bangladesh secured their place.
Speaking after the match, Agha praised his team’s performance, stating that winning such close games is the mark of a “special team.” He specifically highlighted the excellent bowling and fielding, crediting bowler Shaheen Afridi for applying pressure from the very beginning.
The win sets up a historic final. For the first time in the 41-year history of the Asia Cup, arch-rivals Pakistan and India will face each other in the tournament’s final match on Sunday, September 28.

This final is a landmark event, as the two teams have never met in an Asia Cup final before. In the current tournament, India has won both of their previous matches against Pakistan.
Since the tournament began in 1984, India has been the most successful team, winning the Asia Cup 8 times, followed by Sri Lanka with 6 wins. Pakistan has won the title twice.
