ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s javelin sensation Arshad Nadeem delivered yet another stunning performance, clinching the gold medal at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships with a phenomenal final throw of 86.40 meters, outclassing rivals from across Asia, including India’s Sachin Yadav.
In this sense, India’s Yadav managed a throw of 85.16 meters, while Japan’s Yuta Sakiyama finished third with 83.75 meters. However, it was Nadeem who stole the spotlight, confidently surpassing his competitors and proudly raising Pakistan’s flag on the podium.
Furthermore, this historic triumph marks Pakistan’s first gold medal at the Asian Athletics Championships in over 50 years.
The last such victory dates back to 1973, when Allah Ditta won the javelin event and Muhammad Younis earned gold in the 800m, both at the championship held in Marikina, Philippines.
This isn’t Nadeem’s first time on the international radar. He previously made history by securing Pakistan’s first-ever individual Olympic gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he threw a record-breaking 92.97 meters.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended congratulations to the national hero.
“Arshad Nadeem has once again lifted the spirits of an entire nation,” the Prime Minister remarked in a statement. “He has shown the world what Pakistanis are capable of.”
