ISLAMABAD: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, during a visit to flood-affected areas in Punjab, stated that the country cannot afford repeated losses of life and property each year. He emphasized the need for accelerated infrastructure development to protect people from floods.
The Army Chief visited heavily impacted areas including Kasur, Jalalpur Peerwala, and Multan to review the flood situation and ongoing relief operations. He was briefed on rescue efforts and spoke with officers from the civil administration.
Munir stressed the importance of good governance and development that involves public participation. He met with flood victims rescued by the army and administration, who thanked the military for its timely assistance.
He also praised the high morale and commitment of the rescue personnel and police. The visit included an aerial survey of the affected regions around Lahore, Kasur, and Multan.
