Armed men kill four, abduct four farmers in Kharan

KHARAN: Unidentified gunmen opened fire in Kharan district of Balochistan on Thursday, killing four people and abducting four others, officials said.

Deputy Commissioner Kharan, Munir Ahmed, said the assailants targeted a group of local farmers at Lajay, a remote area outside Kharan town. He confirmed that the gunmen shot dead four individuals and kidnapped four others before fleeing the scene.

Security forces and local police launched a search operation to track down the attackers and rescue the abductees.

Balochistan has long grappled with unrest, terrorism, and lawlessness. Incidents of abductions for ransom, targeted killings, and armed assaults occur intermittently across several districts.

In recent weeks, Kharan, Kech, and Panjgur have witnessed a surge in militant attacks and armed clashes that claimed the lives of civilians and security personnel.
