Armed men abduct 18 labourers in Khuzdar

KHUZDAR: Unknown armed men, believed to be members of Fitna al-Hindustan, abducted 18 labourers from Balochistan’s Khuzdar district on Friday.

It was the second incident of the labourers abduction in the past two days, as nine labourers were kidnapped a day earlier in the Dasht tehsil of Balochistan’s Mastung district. The number of workers kidnapped in Balochistan over the past days has risen to 27.

According to officials, the attackers— believed to be members of the India-backed militant network “Fitna al-Hindustan” — launched an assault on a construction company’s camp in the Nall Kaliri area of Khuzdar, targeting workers engaged in a development project in the area.

They abducted 18 workers, and set several vehicles on fire. Most of the abducted labourers belonged to Sindh province, they added.

On Thursday, armed men abducted nine workers from the Siah Posh area of Dasht, where they had been working at a construction site near a security checkpoint. The kidnapped included five men from Sindh and four locals, officials said.

IN June this year, the Levies Force rescued nine members of a Hindu family from forced labour in a remote part of Khuzdar district. The operation took place in the Khura area of Gresha tehsil.

It followed a request from Senator Danesh Kumar to Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti.

The Chief Minister acted swiftly. He ordered senior officials to take immediate action. The commissioner of Kalat Division supervised the mission, which the Levies Force carried out successfully.
