ISLAMABAD: The public has been confronted with yet another development that is likely to affect household budgets across the country. The price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) has been increased, adding to the financial strain already faced by consumers.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has officially issued a notification announcing an increase in LPG prices for the month of February. The price of LPG has been raised by Rs 6.37 per kilogram. This adjustment comes at a time when many households are struggling to manage rising expenses for essential commodities.
The price of an 11.8-kilogram domestic LPG cylinder has gone up by Rs 75.71. Following this revision, the new price of a household cylinder has been fixed at Rs 2,667 for February. In this sense, the Industry experts note that LPG is widely used for cooking purposes, particularly in urban areas and regions where natural gas supply remains limited or inconsistent.
For consumers, the timing of the increase is particularly concerning. Many families are already adjusting their spending due to higher prices of food items, utilities, and transportation. In this regard, the questions are now being raised about whether this increase is a one-time adjustment or part of a broader pricing trend in the coming months.
So far, what this price hike could mean for future energy costs and whether more increases are on the horizon remains to be seen.
