ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) seized drugs worth millions of rupees during major operations in Peshawar and Chagai, officials said.
According to an ANF spokesperson, the force carried out an effective crackdown against drug smuggling near educational institutions and in several cities across the country. During three separate operations, ANF arrested two suspects and recovered more than 209.83 kilograms of narcotics valued at over Rs29.5 million.
In Peshawar, ANF teams intercepted a suspect near a university on Ring Road and recovered 350 ecstasy tablets weighing 230 grams. The accused confessed during initial questioning that he sold drugs to students.
In another operation near Hazro Toll Plaza in Attock, officials recovered 9.6 kilograms of hashish from a motorcyclist.
The largest seizure took place in Nokkundi, Chagai district, where ANF recovered 200 kilograms of opium during a major raid.
The spokesperson said cases have been registered against the suspects under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997, and investigations are underway.
