Islamabad: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has launched a crackdown against drug traffickers, conducting seven successful operations around educational institutions and in various cities across the country, resulting in the arrest of eight suspects.
According to the ANF spokesperson, a total of 168.443 kilograms of narcotics were recovered during these operations, with an estimated value exceeding Rs. 23.4 million.
In Rawalpindi’s Mareer Hassan area, near a school, 105 ecstasy tablets (weighing 55 grams) were recovered from a suspect who confessed to selling the drugs to students of educational institutions. At Faisalabad International Airport, 988 grams of heroin were recovered from the luggage of a passenger traveling to Riyadh.
In Lahore, on Kasur Road, three suspects were caught with 5 kilograms of heroin and three drones used for smuggling.
In Hyderabad, near a courier office on Auto Bahn Road, 3 kilograms of hashish were found in a vehicle, and three suspects were arrested.
In Peshawar, near University Road, 3 kilograms of heroin and 14.4 kilograms of hashish were recovered from a vehicle.
Furthermore, in Shahkas, Khyber (Peshawar region), 30 kilograms of opium and 30 kilograms of hashish hidden for smuggling were seized, while 18 kilograms of hashish were recovered from Daudabad, Dalbandin in the Chaghi district.
The ANF spokesperson confirmed that all suspects have been booked under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, and further investigations are underway.
Note: These operations reflect the alarming presence and spread of narcotics across major urban centers, including Balochistan.
