All ‘Khawarij’ killed in Wana College attack, landmine clearance begins

Successful Counter-Terrorism Operation Concludes at Cadet College Wana

WANA: Pakistani security forces have successfully neutralized all militants Fitna Al-Khwarij  involved in a major attack on Cadet College Wana, concluding a complex operation that safely evacuated hundreds of students and staff without any civilian casualties .

The attack commenced on Monday evening when a suicide bomber detonated a vehicle loaded with explosives at the main gate of the college, causing significant structural damage . Following the initial blast, a group of militants entered the compound. Security sources confirmed that the total number of attackers was six, including one suicide bomber and five other militants .

In a meticulously planned rescue operation, security forces safely evacuated all 650 individuals who were present in the college at the time of the attack, including 525 cadets and faculty members . The rescue was carried out with extreme caution as the militants had been cornered in an administrative block situated away from the student residential quarters .

Authorities, including Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, stated that the militants were in communication with handlers based in Afghanistan during the attack . The Pakistani military has blamed the assault on the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), whom officials often refer to as “Khawarij” or “Fitna-ul-Khawarij” . However, the TTP has denied involvement in the attack .

After an operation lasting over 20 hours, security forces confirmed that all attackers had been eliminated. The successful mission prevented a potential hostage situation and averted a major human tragedy, with officials highlighting the high morale of the rescued cadets

The militants launched a suicide attack on the main gate of the college on Tuesday and completely destroyed it.

However, the security personnel killed the militants outside the gate.

350 students have been safely rescued so far. Still some 300 people are there inside the building of the college.

The security officials have said that the militants are in contact with their handlers in Afghanistan.

The rescued students have lauded the security forces for the brave and tactful operation.
