Iran Says Air Defences Shoot Down Seven Israeli Drones

TEHRAN: Iran’s military said seven Israeli drones were shot down by the country’s air defense system.

According to Iranian authorities, the drones were attempting to enter Iranian airspace when they were intercepted and destroyed.

Military officials said more than 500 ballistic and cruise missiles have been launched since the start of the ongoing conflict. Over 2,000 drones of various types have also been deployed.

Officials added that around 60 percent of the missiles were used to target US forces, while about 40 percent were fired toward Israeli areas.

Meanwhile, the Iranian president addressed the nation and issued a message on social media during the wartime situation. Appreciation was expressed for the support shown by the people of Kurdistan.

Sympathy was also conveyed to the families of those killed and injured in the conflict.

The president directed provincial governors and the armed forces to firmly suppress any separatist movements in the country. National security was ordered to be maintained at all costs.

Security forces were also instructed to take decisive action against separatist elements. No leniency was ordered for individuals involved in activities against the state’s security.
