Duty first: AIGP Balochistan Constabulary warns against mobile use on duty

QUETTA: Additional Inspector General Police (AIGP) Commandant of Balochistan Constabulary, Agha Muhammad Yousuf urged personnel to remain vigilant and alert while on duty, barring them from unnecessary use of mobile phones during duty.

Addressing a special darbar held at Qasim Lines, Quetta, he said that Martyrdom should be our top priority.
He urged personnel and officers to thoroughly survey their designated areas at the beginning of their shifts.

“If you spot anything suspicious, report it immediately to your senior officers and never allow any unidentified person to approach you during duty,” he instructed.

A smartly turned-out contingent of the Balochistan Constabulary presented a salute to the Commandant upon his arrival. During the session, the Additional IGP attentively listened to the grievances of the personnel. Several concerns were resolved on the spot, while others were noted by his accompanying staff for prompt action.

Some officers raised concerns over frequent transfers and postings to far-flung areas. Addressing this, Agha Yousuf directed the Zonal Commander of Qasim Line (Zone-1), the Zonal Commander RRG Zone-1, and the SP Elite Force to ensure that all transfers and leaves are handled purely on merit and fairness. “There should be no complaints about injustice,” he stressed.

Clarifying the distinction between district police and the Balochistan Constabulary, he noted, “While district police is confined to specific areas, the BC serves as a provincial reserve force deployed wherever manpower is required under the instructions of the provincial government and the Inspector General of Police.” He made it clear that transfers are part of the job, and no discriminatory treatment is being meted out. “All personnel are like my own children — everyone is equal, and I will ensure justice and transparency.”

He warned against absenteeism, stating that unauthorized absence will result in salary suspension and transfers to remote areas. “If you have a genuine reason, seek leave from your zonal commander. If the matter exceeds their jurisdiction, visit the BC head office and present your case for due consideration,” he added.

Agha Yousuf also urged personnel to strictly adhere to departmental SOPs, highlighting that following the procedure minimizes risk and enhances operational safety. “Martyrs never die. They live on forever,” he concluded, “If you want to be remembered with honor and respect, always be ready to embrace martyrdom.”
